Media registration for ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) in Doha, Qatar

Media registration is open for the 2026 Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), set to take place in Doha, Qatar, from 9 to 27 November.

The Plenipotentiary Conference is the highest policy-making body of ITU, the United Nations' agency for digital technologies. Held every four years, the conference sets ITU's strategic direction for managing the world's radio-frequency spectrum, establishing responsible technology standards, and advancing digital development for all.

PP-26 is organized by ITU and hosted by the State of Qatar, represented by the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA).

On the agenda at PP-26

Elections: The conference will elect ITU's five top leadership positions – the Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General and Directors of the Radiocommunication, Telecommunication Standardization, and Telecommunication Development Bureaux. PP-26 will also decide the 48 Member States to serve on the ITU Council and the members of the Radio Regulations Board (RRB) for their 2027-2030 terms.

ITU's strategy: The conference will set the Union's general policies and approve its strategic and financial plans for 2028-2031, covering areas ranging from satellite communications to artificial intelligence, all while advancing digital inclusion for underserved communities.

Global participation: Around 3,000 participants are expected, including high-level dignitaries from ITU's 194 Member States, as well as representatives from industry and academia.
