América Móvil's Colombian unit Claro has opened its mobile network to Móvil Éxito, the telecom brand of retailer Grupo Éxito, making its first move as host to a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the country.
The economic terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Móvil Éxito, which has more than 2 million users, will keep its brand, prepaid model and no-contract plans while operating over Claro's mobile network.
The Claro-based service went on sale in mid-September at 30 Grupo Éxito stores in the country, under the Éxito, Carulla, Surtimax and Super Inter banners. The plan is to expand to up to 447 stores in the coming months.
Before adding Claro, Móvil Éxito had relied solely on Tigo's network for more than a decade. The MVNO plans to keep that agreement and operate over both networks.
In theory, the MVNO's reach could get even higher, as Millicom is integrating Tigo and Movistar Colombia following its takeover of Telefónica's local operations.
Claro Colombia had 42.6 million mobile customers in the second quarter of 2026, and its revenue grew 5.8% year-on-year in the period, according to the company's financial and operational report.
Its 4G network surpassed 1,100 municipalities through more than 10,600 towers, and its 5G service is available in over 100 cities.

According to the latest data from ICT ministry MinTIC, Claro led in mobile internet accesses at the end of March, with 28.4 million, followed by Movistar (9.2 million), Tigo (8.6 million) and WOM (2.4 million).
Móvil Éxito came next, but trailing far behind, with about 500,000.
In total mobile lines, however, Móvil Éxito is behind Virgin Mobile, with 2.3 million versus 3.3 million.
Overall, considering the main players in the field, MVNOs accounted for 5.9 million of Colombia's 94.6 million mobile lines at Q1-end, or about 6.3%, according to the official data.
As a group, they cut their negative net portability to about 40,000 lines in the first quarter of 2026, from about 67,000 a year earlier. Móvil Éxito posted a net gain of 1,638 lines in Q1.
