Emerson, a worldwide automation player, has unveiled intentions to establish a fresh service and operations hub for automation solutions within the Umm Alhoul Free Zone. This Emerson Middle East & Africa Service Centre is set to broaden the company's in-country support for clients throughout Qatar, the Middle East and Africa. It will feature the area's inaugural certified flow calibration laboratory located within the country, plus additional key automation systems intended to assist customers in streamlining operations, shortening turnaround periods, cutting expenses and speeding up project schedules. The 3,500-square-metre site strengthens Emerson's growing industrial technology footprint in the region and supports Qatar National Vision 2030 goals related to economic expansion and diversification. The new location complements Emerson's current manufacturing, service and distribution sites in the Middle East spanning Saudi Arabia and the UAE, together with an extensive network of Emerson accredited service partners across the region. Judson Duncan, Group President of Global Sales at Emerson, commented that this fresh investment demonstrates Emerson's strategic dedication to hastening innovation in Qatar and backing the Middle East's most vital operations. He further noted that the added capabilities would empower customers to function with enhanced agility, dependability and cost effectiveness. The formal announcement took place during a signing event held alongside the Qatar Economic Forum in New York City, with Qatar Free Zone officials present, among them Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al Thani, CEO of Qatar Free Zones Authority, and Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry and chairman of Qatar Free Zones Authority. Apart from being set up to calibrate large flow meters for high-pressure and high-volume tasks, the Qatar site will include measurement instrumentation solutions and skid training systems, ready-to-use inventory and spare parts distribution, a training and experience center for customer operations teams, and staging and integration services for distributed control systems. The site is scheduled to launch in stages: control systems staging and measurement solutions services, spares inventory and the training centre are due to open this December, while the certified flow calibration lab will open early next year.
