Airties has expanded its Connectivity Experience Management Platform with integrated cybersecurity capabilities designed to give broadband operators network-level protection across subscribers’ connected devices.
The new functionality uses the broadband router as an additional security layer, allowing operators to protect devices across a home or small business without requiring subscribers to install security software on individual devices.
Airties is offering two levels of protection. Its mass-market security provides malicious website blocking, content filtering, parental controls and advertising and tracker blocking across connected devices. For converged operators, the company says protection can also extend to subscribers’ mobile devices when they are away from their home or business Wi-Fi network.
A more advanced security layer uses network, device and application intelligence to identify and respond to emerging attacks. It includes protection against router exploitation, port scans and brute-force attacks, together with monitoring of smart IoT devices for anomalous traffic and botnet command-and-control communications. Compromised devices can be blocked or quarantined.
“Cybersecurity inside the home and business router must be the frontline of defence in today’s age of connected-device proliferation and AI,” said Metin Taskin, CEO and co-founder of Airties.
Taskin said Airties’ existing connectivity intelligence covers more than 50 million homes, providing data that can be used both to optimise connectivity and identify potential security threats.
Airties is also developing Agentic Shield, designed to address potential vulnerabilities introduced as autonomous AI agents become more widely used in homes and businesses.
For small businesses, the platform additionally provides Ethernet port blocking, network segmentation with separate security policies for individual SSIDs and client isolation to prevent devices communicating directly with each other.
The cybersecurity functions are being integrated with Airties’ existing connectivity management capabilities rather than offered as a separate platform. The company argues this will allow ISPs to deploy baseline security across their subscriber bases while potentially offering more advanced protection as an additional service.
Airties will continue working with third-party providers of threat intelligence databases and endpoint protection, which can complement its network-level security.
The company supplies connectivity software to operators including AT&T, Bouygues Telecom, BT, Cox, Deutsche Telekom, Telia, Telstra, T-Mobile US and Vodafone.
