Nepal Telecom has provided free internet, SIM cards, and various communication relief facilities targeting citizens in various districts affected by the floods in the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers.
According to the company, NT fiber cables and routers damaged by floods in affected areas including Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, Nuwakot, and Tanahu will be provided free of charge and reinstalled. Additionally, the deadline for customers whose time has expired has been extended for three months free of charge. Nepal Telecom has stated that lost SIM cards will be reissued free of charge to residents of the affected areas, and 210 SIM cards have been provided in coordination with the Nepali Army for establishing contact during rescue operations.
Similarly, the toll-free number (16105000402) for mental health counseling has been made free for three months. Free high-speed internet with 100 Mbps capacity and technical support has been provided for information collection and dissemination at relief collection sites, District Administration Offices, and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
Nepal Telecom had previously provided approximately 20 crore rupees in aid for relief and rehabilitation in flood-affected areas, including contributions from employees, and is also accelerating the reconstruction of its telecommunication infrastructure worth crores damaged by the floods, informed spokesperson Dr. Kamal Lamichhane.
