Disney+ is introducing curated Playlists globally, giving subscribers a continuous, shuffled stream of programmes and films based around genres, franchises, characters and moods.
Rather than choosing titles individually, subscribers can select a playlist carefully curated by genre, franchise, character, or mood. Whether they’re in the mood for Action and Adventure Movies, Romantic Comedies, and Pixar Movies or spending time with favourites like Mickey and Friends, Bluey, or Modern Family,
Subscribers are able pause, skip, and rewind at any time.
Seasonal playlists will also be available throughout the year, with themed and holiday-inspired collections for occasions like Halloween and beyond.
The concept revisits an idea previously explored by Netflix. In 2020, Netflix tested Direct in France, a scheduled linear stream designed for viewers who wanted to start watching without first selecting a title. It subsequently launched the personalised Play Something feature globally in 2021.
Disney’s approach differs by allowing viewers to choose a curated theme while retaining conventional playback controls.
