Accedo and MediaKind launch white-label streaming platform for pay-TV operators

Accedo and MediaKind have launched an end-to-end white-label streaming platform designed to help pay-TV operators deploy and manage branded video services across connected TVs, mobile devices, web browsers and set-top boxes without building separate applications for each platform.

The joint solution combines Accedo’s native application framework and cloud-based application management technology with MediaKind’s MK.IO Platform for Operators.

Canadian operator Cogeco is already using the technology for its EPICO streaming service, while a second unnamed operator has committed to launch on the platform in the coming months.

Platform combines application and video infrastructure

The partnership brings together the user-facing application layer and the underlying video service infrastructure within a single offering.

Accedo provides the native application framework and cloud-based tools used to manage and customise applications.

MediaKind’s MK.IO Platform for Operators provides capabilities covering entitlements, content management and discovery, security and video delivery.

The combination is intended to give operators an end-to-end foundation for launching streaming services while retaining control over their branding, interfaces and service configuration.

Single framework targets multiple device platforms

The platform supports Android set-top boxes, iOS and Android mobile devices, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, Samsung Smart TV and web browsers.

Supporting these environments can create significant engineering requirements for operators because applications traditionally need to be developed, maintained and updated across multiple operating systems and device types.

Accedo and MediaKind aim to reduce that complexity by providing a common framework through which operators can customise their services without independently developing every native application.

Operators can still modify branding and the user experience as their requirements evolve.

Cogeco already using technology for EPICO

Cogeco is using the technology to support its EPICO streaming service in Canada, providing the partnership with an existing operator deployment.

A second operator has also committed to adopting the platform and is expected to launch its service in the coming months, although its identity has not been disclosed.

Having an operational deployment is significant for a white-label platform because pay-TV services need to support complex requirements around content rights, subscriber entitlements, device compatibility, security and reliable video delivery.

Accedo and MediaKind target lower deployment costs

The companies are positioning the platform as a way for operators to reduce implementation and engineering costs while accelerating the launch of new streaming services.

The proposition is particularly relevant as traditional pay-TV providers increasingly need to deliver services across the same range of devices used by standalone streaming platforms.

Instead of maintaining extensive application development capabilities internally, operators can use the joint platform as a foundation and focus more heavily on service differentiation, content and customer experience.

Accedo and MediaKind will demonstrate the platform at IBC2026 in Amsterdam from September 11 to 14.
