Disney+ expands European broadcaster strategy with new M6 France content deal

Disney+ has extended its strategy of partnering with European broadcasters through a new agreement with France’s Groupe M6 that will bring several of the broadcaster’s best-known entertainment programmes to the streaming platform from later this month.

The agreement, announced by The Walt Disney Company France and Groupe M6, expands a relationship spanning more than 30 years and will see a selection of popular French entertainment titles made available to Disney+ subscribers under what the companies describe as an innovative distribution model.

From 25 September, sitcoms Scènes de ménages and En Famille will join Disney+, with reality formats Mariés au premier regard and The Power: Qui a le pouvoir ? following in early 2027. In total, several hundred episodes will be added to the service over time.

The deal is designed to extend the reach of M6’s programming while strengthening Disney+’s local French entertainment offering. It also targets younger audiences, with the companies highlighting Disney+’s strong engagement among viewers aged 15 to 34.

While financial terms were not disclosed, the agreement represents another example of Disney+ working with established broadcasters rather than competing solely for exclusive programming. Similar partnerships have already been announced with ITV in the UK, Atresmedia in Spain, SIC in Portugal and RAI in Italy.

Karl Holmes, General Manager of Disney+ EMEA, said: “M6 has created shows that audiences in France really love, and we’re excited to bring some of those favourites to Disney+. With their strong appeal among younger viewers, it’s a natural fit and means even more local shows for our customers to enjoy. We’re really pleased to take this next step with M6, and to keep working with broadcasters across Europe to bring their shows to new audiences.”

David Larramendy, Chairman of the Executive Board of Groupe M6, added: “We are delighted to extend our longstanding relationship with Disney through this innovative collaboration. It will enable some of our most iconic brands to reach new audiences and benefit from additional exposure among Disney+ subscribers. This agreement reflects the transformation of the audiovisual landscape and demonstrates how broadcasters and streaming services can work together to develop new models that benefit audiences, content and creators alike.”

The companies said the agreement reflects changing viewing habits by making established television brands available across multiple platforms. Alongside expanding M6’s audience beyond traditional linear television, Disney+ gains additional locally produced content for its French catalogue, reinforcing a broader European strategy of working with national broadcasters to enhance its regional offering.
