wedotv expands global footprint with renewed VIDAA distribution deal

Streaming channel operator wedotv has renewed and significantly expanded its global distribution agreement with V, the company behind the VIDAA smart‑TV operating system, adding carriage in the MENA region and South Africa and widening the portfolio of wedotv channels available on the platform.

The renewed partnership, announced on 24 August, extends a collaboration that began in 2023, when VIDAA first launched seven wedotv thematic channels across 12 markets. Under the expanded deal, wedotv Sports MENA and wedotv Cars join the line‑up, while existing wedotv channels gain access to two new regions.

In MENA, VIDAA has rolled out wedotv Sports MENA and wedotv Cars. In South Africa, the platform has added wedotv Big Stories, wedotv Cars, and the single‑IP channel wedotv: Piel Salvaje.

Iza Piotrowska, SVP Global Business Development at wedotv, said the strengthened partnership reflects the strong performance of wedotv’s channels since the companies began working together. “VIDAA has been an important part of wedotv’s global distribution strategy, providing broad connected‑TV reach across a diverse range of markets. Expanding into MENA and South Africa allows us to build on that momentum while introducing additional genre and single‑IP services to VIDAA audiences.”

With the new launches, wedotv now operates FAST channels on VIDAA in 14 territories, including the DACH region, the UK, Italy, LATAM, Brazil, Poland, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Israel, MENA and South Africa.

Guy Edri, CEO of V, said the partnership demonstrates how both companies are scaling together. “Our relationship with wedotv is a great example of two companies growing together, expanding into new markets and creating more value along the way. By extending our cooperation, we can bring even more premium, free content to VIDAA viewers around the world while giving wedotv access to our growing global audience.”

VIDAA, originally developed by Hisense, is pre‑installed on millions of smart TVs worldwide. The operating system powers more than 50 million TVs across 180 countries, including models from Hisense, Toshiba, Loewe, Leica, Schneider and Element.
