Lightyear has launched what it describes as an agentic platform for enterprise telecom, introducing Lightyear Dispatch alongside two operational AI agents designed to automate parts of telecom procurement and service implementation.
The new platform combines natural-language access to telecom network data with specialised agents that can take on carrier coordination tasks traditionally handled manually by enterprise IT, procurement and network teams.
The initial launch includes Dispatch, the Quoting Agent and the Implementation Agent, all of which are available to Lightyear customers.
Dispatch becomes natural-language layer for telecom data
Dispatch allows users to query network data and create reports using natural language.
Lightyear said enterprise telecom information is typically spread across carrier portals, invoices, contracts and internal systems. Its platform already normalises that information into a single system of record, and Dispatch adds a conversational layer on top.
Customers can use the tool to ask questions such as which contracts are nearing renewal, where pricing may be above market or which locations lack backup connectivity.
It can also generate custom tables, charts and reports without requiring users to navigate fixed dashboards.
Lightyear said early customers created custom inventory and spend reports in a median of one minute and two prompts.
Platform draws on proprietary telecom data
The company said its AI agents are supported by proprietary pricing, serviceability and provider intelligence covering more than 2 million quotes across over 1,200 carriers.
Lightyear is positioning this domain-specific data as a key differentiator from general-purpose AI systems.
The agents also incorporate workflows developed through the company’s experience managing enterprise telecom procurement and implementation.
That combination is intended to give the system enough operational context to execute specialised telecom tasks rather than simply assist users with isolated queries.
Quoting Agent targets faster carrier sourcing
The Quoting Agent uses customer requirements, procurement rules and Lightyear’s carrier intelligence to identify suitable providers and send requests for pricing.
According to Lightyear, the agent can deliver quotes 30% to 50% faster while generating 15% to 25% more qualified bids.
The system is designed to reduce the manual coordination involved in sourcing connectivity across a fragmented carrier market.
Implementation Agent monitors active installations
The Implementation Agent focuses on telecom service delivery after procurement.
It reviews platform data, project updates and communications across active installations, then monitors milestones and escalates issues where necessary.
Lightyear said the agent can reduce installation duration by five to 10 days.
The company said agents operate within customer-defined rules, with certain actions paused for human approval before execution.
Agentic model expands beyond assistance
Lightyear is framing the launch as a shift from systems that simply store telecom information toward systems that can take action on that information.
Dennis Thankachan, CEO of Lightyear, described the approach as building a “System of Action” for telecom.
The company plans to extend agents across more workflows, including contract renewals, network moves, adds, changes and disconnects, as well as invoice disputes.
By 2027, Lightyear expects agents to be handling a material share of telecom lifecycle work for customers.
Enterprise telecom remains highly manual
Lightyear said enterprise telecom represents more than $1 trillion in annual spending globally, yet many sourcing, installation and management processes remain manual.
The complexity comes from thousands of carriers, inconsistent service data and limited pricing transparency.
That environment makes telecom a potentially strong fit for specialised AI agents because many workflows involve repetitive coordination, structured decisions and large volumes of fragmented operational data.
