Viaplay Group has launched a major upgrade to its Allente television platform, introducing a next‑generation user experience designed to meet the rapidly changing viewing habits of Nordic audiences.
The new interface, live since early August, is built on 3 Screen Solutions’ 3Ready Platform and marks one of the most significant UX overhauls in Allente’s history.
Allente, the leading pay‑TV provider in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, now offers subscribers a modern, AI‑enhanced experience that blends live TV, streaming and personalised profiles into a single, seamless environment. The rollout follows Viaplay’s full acquisition of Allente in 2025 and reflects the company’s ambition to strengthen its convergent entertainment offering.
The new Allente service is powered by SDMC’s latest AI‑enabled set‑top box, featuring a 4 TOPS neural processing unit and Android TV 14 Operator Tier OS. Combined with 3SS’ UX technology and a customisable remote control from Tech4home, the platform delivers faster navigation, smarter recommendations and unprecedented personalisation.
Philip Wågnert, EVP Chief Technology & Product Officer at Viaplay Group, said the launch represents “true hardware and user experience innovation,” adding that Allente customers now benefit from a service that is “fast, stable and user‑friendly.”
A standout feature of the upgrade is the introduction of 3Ready Experience Modes — tailored interfaces designed for different types of viewers: Live TV Mode opens directly on the last‑watched channel, preserving the traditional broadcast experience. On Demand Mode prioritises streaming, launching straight into a personalised home screen with quick access to apps and recently watched content. Kids Mode provides a safe, simplified environment with pre‑filtered age‑appropriate programming.
Pierre Donath, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at 3SS, said the modes solve a long‑standing industry challenge: serving both live‑TV loyalists and streaming‑first audiences without compromise.
The upgraded Allente platform integrates third‑party apps including Viaplay, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max and SkyShowtime. Subscribers can activate services directly on the device and bookmark content from multiple providers in one unified interface.
Tech4home’s Notus L12 remote introduces four customisable shortcut buttons, allowing users to tailor the device to their viewing habits. Graça Cândido, Co‑Founder of Tech4home, said the remote “adapts to how viewers watch, not the other way around.”
The launch continues a partnership between Viaplay and 3SS dating back to 2018. Today, 3SS technology powers Allente’s services across smart TVs, mobile devices, Apple TV, Android TV and hybrid STBs, as well as its hospitality TV solutions.
The new Allente experience will be showcased at IBC 2026 on the 3SS stand.
