Hisense brings Xbox cloud gaming to VIDAA smart TVs

Hisense has launched the Xbox app on its VIDAA smart TV platform in the UK, allowing compatible televisions to stream Xbox games without requiring a console.

The app gives users access to Xbox Cloud Gaming through an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and a compatible controller, enabling hundreds of games to be played directly on supported Hisense TVs.

To promote the launch, customers buying selected RGB MiniLED, MiniLED and Laser Cinema models between 5 August and 3 November will receive a personalised Xbox Design Lab controller and a one-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial.

The move expands Microsoft’s strategy of making Xbox available across connected devices rather than relying solely on dedicated consoles. Hisense says the partnership also reflects growing demand for cloud-based entertainment delivered through smart TV platforms.

Gaming on the TV has been an ambition of operators for decades. Rather than selling hardware, Microsoft increasingly wants to sell Game Pass subscriptions, making the TV itself the gaming device. For TV manufacturers, gaming has become another app ecosystem alongside Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and YouTube. Hisense joins Samsung and LG in supporting Xbox Cloud Gaming, strengthening the role of smart TVs as all-in-one entertainment platforms.

Supported Hisense televisions already include gaming-focused features such as refresh rates of up to 180Hz, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Game Bar controls, with the Xbox app adding console-free access to Microsoft’s gaming catalogue.
