AIS and Microsoft launch AI solutions and skills initiative for Thai SMEs

AIS Business and Microsoft Thailand launched their “AI Ready for SMEs” initiative on Thursday, which – as the name implies – offers AI solutions for Thailand’s SME sector to encourage adoption of the technology.

The initiative aims to provide access to AI solutions, develop essential skills, and foster AI innovation for SMEs via specially tailored packages, nationwide roadshows to improve solution accessibility and pre-built AI agent templates.

For example, AIS’s “SME AI Ready” packages are now integrated with Microsoft 365 and Copilot and supported by the AIS service desk. The initiative also introduces AI agent templates to be used on Copilot that allow SMEs to build and customize agents for specific business functions, starting with the Business Assistant AI solution, which provides business owners with precise insights and recommendations to boost efficiency.

AIS and Microsoft also plan to co-host a series of educational roadshows across Bangkok and key economic provinces with the goal of training over 700 SME entrepreneurs on AI capabilities by the end of this year. Microsoft will also bring its Microsoft Elevate training curriculum to AIS’s online platform, allowing SMEs to learn and develop skills at their own pace.

With SMEs representing 99.6% of all businesses in Thailand, AIS and Microsoft aim to help them adopt AI securely, efficiently, and practically to enhance their long-term competitiveness and sustainable growth, said Phupa Akavipat, chief enterprise business officer for AIS.

“We aim to make AI accessible, practical, and highly effective for businesses of all sizes through dedicated SME packages,” he said in a statement. “Furthermore, our upcoming workshops and enablement programs will provide practical, hands-on guidance to help SMEs successfully implement AI and build long-term competitive advantages.”

“For many small businesses, digital transformation has been held back by limitations in skills, talent, and budget,” added Dhanawat Suthumpun, MD for Microsoft Thailand and Emerging Markets. “In the age of AI, however, these barriers are being significantly reduced, enabling SMEs to adopt technology more easily, improve efficiency, lower costs, make smarter decisions, and achieve tangible growth.”

The “AI Ready for SMEs” initiative services and packages will be available from mid-June to September 2026.
