Joyn Switzerland, part of ProSiebenSat.1, has become the first customer to deploy Zattoo Ingest in full production, processing the live signal of 75 linear TV channels.
The rollout marks a key infrastructure milestone in Joyn Switzerland’s streaming architecture and reflects a broader shift towards modular, scalable live TV processing systems in European streaming platforms, according to TV streaming provider Zattoo.
The deployment focuses on modernising the ingest layer of Joyn Switzerland’s live TV stack without requiring changes to its broader platform architecture. Zattoo Ingest handles signal intake and converts incoming live TV feeds into adaptive bitrate formats, enabling stable distribution across Joyn’s delivery network. Built-in redundancy mechanisms are designed to ensure high availability and consistent streaming performance, particularly as demand for live content continues to grow.
The approach is intended to reduce the complexity typically associated with expanding channel portfolios or upgrading legacy ingest systems, which often require costly and disruptive infrastructure overhauls, according to Zattoo.
“Providing a reliable live TV experience is a key priority for us. With Zattoo Ingest, we can strengthen the ingest layer while keeping our existing platform unchanged, ensuring reliability and efficiency while maintaining focus on the user experience,” said Andrea Haemmerli, CEO of Seven. One Entertainment Group Schweiz.
Tina Rodriguez, Interim CEO of Zattoo, added: “Live TV platforms are shifting toward modular, interoperable architectures that allow individual layers to evolve independently. This deployment with Joyn Switzerland demonstrates how broadcasters and TV platform providers can modernise critical infrastructure components while maintaining established platform environments.”
The system is currently deployed for selected linear TV channels rather than the full channel portfolio. The scope covers 75 channels, with the potential for expansion depending on future platform requirements, according to Zattoo.
