EE is boosting mobile connectivity to customers ahead of the summer as the operator introduces new network upgrades, including launching 5G+ to more than 50m people and expanding the rollout of technologies to enhance UK network performance as part of a £40bn investment.
This has seen 5G+ connectivity extended to now cover 610 towns and cities since the start of the year.
Greg McCall, Chief Security and Networks Officer at BT Group (pictured) said the 5G+ network coverage expansion meant more customers will gain from “more reliable and resilient connectivity in the places where it matters most.”
It has also resulted in a 54% increase in monthly customer usage on 5G+ during the last six months alone, and greater network capacity following reallocation of its 2.1GHz (2100MHz) spectrum across more than 4,000 mobile sites.
EE also plans to upgrade 5,000 more mobile sites in this way in the next few months.
