Oracle opens first public cloud region in Morocco

Oracle has launched its first public cloud region in Morocco, marking a significant expansion of its infrastructure footprint in North Africa and strengthening the country’s position as an emerging digital hub.

The new cloud region will enable organisations across Morocco and the wider region to access Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services locally, supporting workloads across data analytics, AI, databases, and enterprise applications. By offering in-country data hosting, Oracle is also addressing regulatory and data sovereignty requirements that are increasingly shaping cloud adoption strategies.

The investment is expected to benefit both public and private sector entities, including government institutions, financial services firms, and telecom operators seeking low-latency, secure cloud environments. Local availability of OCI services can help accelerate digital transformation initiatives while reducing reliance on overseas data centres.

Oracle’s move aligns with broader momentum in Morocco’s digital infrastructure landscape, where the government has been actively promoting cloud adoption, data localisation, and technology investment to drive economic diversification.

The launch also intensifies competition among hyperscalers in the region, as global cloud providers continue to expand their presence across Africa to capture growing enterprise demand.
