Visa, Zazu and Chari launch Morocco’s first fully digital SME business account

Pan-African fintech Zazu has partnered with Visa and Moroccan fintech infrastructure provider Chari to launch what the companies describe as Morocco’s first fully digital professional account for entrepreneurs and small businesses, unveiled at GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech.

The product allows business owners to open a professional account in under ten minutes through a fully online process, bypassing the paperwork and multi-week delays that still characterise traditional business banking in Morocco. The platform integrates invoicing, payment links for collections, real-time expense tracking, and team-level spending controls within a single dashboard. Visa Business cards for teams are expected to follow in the coming weeks.

The partnership structure assigns distinct roles to each party: Chari provides the technological backbone, API-driven payment licence access, and local market expertise; Visa contributes its global payments rails and card issuance capability; and Zazu operates the customer-facing platform. More than 300 businesses had already onboarded before the public launch, including AI recruitment platform Jobzyn, auto marketplace Auto24, and Moroccan proptech startup Yakeey.

Founded in 2024 by former Solarisbank executives Rinse Jacobs and Germain Bahri, Zazu raised $1 million in pre-seed funding late 2025 and is already active in South Africa. The startup positions Morocco as a gateway to broader North and West African expansion, noting that the country’s mature banking infrastructure coexists with a significant gap in digitally native SME financial tooling.
