The Saudi Digital Government Authority (DGA), in partnership with the World Bank Group, has launched an international workshop titled “Empowering Progress: A Transformative Collaboration on Cloud Innovation.” The event, taking place from April 6 to 10, 2026, at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., brings together Saudi government agencies and international experts to discuss the future of cloud-enabled governance.
The workshop serves as a global platform to showcase Saudi Arabia’s “Cloud-First” policy and its impact on public sector efficiency. Discussions are centered on three primary strategic themes:
Innovation Enablers: Analyzing how cloud computing acts as a foundation for deploying emerging technologies, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data.
Government Integration: Strategies for enhancing cross-agency data sharing and interoperability through unified cloud architectures.
Global Benchmarking: Sharing the Kingdom’s experience as a top-tier model, following its ranking as second globally in the World Bank’s GovTech Maturity Index (GTMI) 2025.
Participating agencies will present real-world use cases of how cloud migration has improved service delivery quality and reduced operational costs within the Saudi public sector. The collaboration aims to develop a roadmap for other developing nations to leverage digital technologies for economic and social development.
The DGA emphasized that this international engagement is part of the Kingdom’s broader strategy to solidify its leadership in the digital government space and to export its technological expertise to global partners.
Editor’s Note: Saudi Arabia’s high ranking in the GTMI has turned it from a “tech consumer” to a “thought leader” in the eyes of the World Bank. By hosting this workshop in Washington, the DGA is effectively positioning the Saudi digital model as a viable alternative to Western or East Asian governance frameworks for emerging markets. Expect more bilateral digital “export” agreements to follow this workshop.
