DAZN plans live sports push for airlines and cruise operators

DAZN is preparing to launch a new inflight and onboard sports product that will bring live events to passengers travelling by air and sea from 2027.

The sports streaming platform said the new service, DAZN Inflight, will be led by Aviv Giladi, president of DAZN Partnerships, and is designed to extend access to live sport beyond the more than 200 terrestrial markets the company already serves.

DAZN said improvements in onboard connectivity, reliability and bandwidth are creating new opportunities to deliver premium live sports to travellers on planes and vessels. The company believes its global technology platform and existing relationships with rights holders, competitions and distribution partners will help make the new offer attractive to transport operators and sports fans alike.

Shay Segev, group CEO of DAZN, said technology was opening up new ways for fans to experience sport and that the inflight initiative would help ensure viewers do not miss major live events while travelling.

Giladi added that the idea of watching a cup final live during a flight would once have seemed unrealistic, but was now close to becoming a commercial reality.

DAZN streams more than 140,000 live events each year and says it is available in over 200 markets worldwide. Its portfolio includes European football, women’s football, boxing, MMA, NFL Game Pass and NHL.TV international distribution.
