Cambodian telco Smart Axiata says it has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amazon's Prime Video to deliver richer digital lifestyle experiences for its 5G customers.
Under the MoU signed at last week’s Mobile World Congress 2026 event, Smart and Prime Video aim to leverage Smart’s 5G connectivity and digital lifestyle offerings to make premium international entertainment more accessible for audiences across Cambodia.
In addition to international dramas, movies and documentaries, Prime Video also carries live NBA coverage for basketball fans.
Smart Axiata CEO Ritesh Kumar Singh said the partnership also reflects its broader ambition to continuously evolve its digital offerings to keep up with Cambodia’s fast-changing lifestyle and media consumption trends as customers become more connected and more globally engaged.
“Our collaboration with Prime Video is part of that continuous effort to bringing world-class digital experiences to Cambodia and reinforcing our position as a true digital lifestyle brand,” he said in a statement.
Smart Axiata and Prime Video said technical and commercial preparations are currently underway to offer the service, with rollout plans expected soon.
Smart Axiata launched its 5G service at the start of this year, along with rival telcos Cellcard and Metfone, although coverage is limited as network rollouts continue. The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications said last month that all three telcos had collectively deployed close to 1,500 5G base stations so far. Smart Axiata had deployed the most by mid-February, with 674 5G base stations in Phnom Penh and several provincial capitals.
