German TV platform HD+ has integrated the Joyn HbbTV app into its streaming offering, extending its aggregation strategy across linear television, catch-up and streaming services within a single user interface.
With the move, users can access Joyn originals and exclusives as well as shows, series, films, reality, comedy and sport directly via the HD+ TV app on connected TV sets. Selected highlights are presented on the app’s home screen, while additional titles can be found via the HD+ guide or search function and are played out in the Joyn app.
The move follows the agreement between Joyn parent company ProSiebenSat.1 and SES, operator of HD+, in February 2025 to integrate Joyn into the HD+ TV app as part of a long-term contract renewal securing transponder capacity on SES satellite position Astra (19.2° East).
In addition to the free programmes on Joyn, content requiring a Joyn PLUS+ subscription can be accessed via the Joyn app, where users can also sign up.
HD+ TV app users can watch missed programmes from ProSiebenSat.1 channels including ProSieben HD, Sat.1 HD, Kabel Eins HD, Kabel Eins Doku HD, ProSieben Maxx HD, sixx HD and Sat.1 Gold HD for up to seven days after broadcast via the electronic programme guide (EPG) or search function.
The integration further strengthens HD+’s position as a comprehensive aggregation platform in Germany’s streaming ecosystem. Following the addition of content from RTL Deutschland’s streaming service RTL+ in March 2025, the HD+ TV app now incorporates the streaming offerings of both major German commercial broadcast groups.
“By integrating Joyn into the HD+ TV app, we are further expanding our close cooperation with ProSiebenSat.1 and bringing classic television and streaming highlights even closer together,” said Christoph Mühleib, Managing Director of HD Plus. “Our goal is to ensure that viewers can easily and elegantly access the content they want. In the HD+ TV app, they find the content of the German TV landscape in one place and can start it directly on the television, regardless of whether it is broadcast linearly, available in a media library or offered by a streaming service.”
Nicole Agudo Berbel, Managing Director and Chief Distribution Officer at ProSiebenSat.1, added: “Joyn brings together the best entertainment across shows, reality, comedy, series, films and sport. Through the integration of the Joyn HbbTV app at HD+, our content becomes even more visible and easier to access for HD+ customers. Together with HD+, we are creating an additional, intuitive entry point to Joyn and Joyn PLUS+.”
