Telenet integrates YouTube Premium into TV platform in Belgian first

Telenet has become the first telecom operator in Belgium to integrate YouTube Premium directly into its entertainment offering, allowing customers to activate and manage the service through the Telenet environment.

Subscribers can now add YouTube Premium (Individual) for €13.99 per month to their Telenet package. The subscription is billed directly via the operator, giving customers a single point of payment.

The YouTube Premium plan offers ad-free viewing on YouTube, background playback, and the ability to download videos and playlists for offline use. It also includes access to YouTube Music, providing ad-free access to a wide music catalogue.

Customers can activate, modify or cancel the subscription through the MyTelenet web portal or the MyTelenet app. The service is accessed through the existing YouTube app and does not require a separate download.

Through integration with the Telenet TV box, users can launch the YouTube app directly from the operator’s platform, while maintaining a central overview of subscriptions and payments.

Vincent Stevens, VP Premium Entertainment at Telenet, said the launch sets a new benchmark for customer experience in Belgium, noting that YouTube is one of the most used apps on the operator’s platform.

The move forms part of Telenet’s broader strategy to aggregate third-party streaming and entertainment services within a single managed environment, giving customers a unified interface, consolidated billing and a single customer service touchpoint.
