Uzbekistan’s Ucell extends 5G coverage to Termez

Uzbek telco Ucell announced it has commercially launched 5G services in Termez in southern Uzbekistan.

Ucell said that new 5G base stations have been installed in key areas of Termez, including, the city centre, major transport and business zones, and areas with high building density and active urban life.

Ucell said its 5G network delivers data speeds up to 1 Gbps, with minimal latency and a stable signal even during peak usage hours. The service is available to any subscriber with a 5G-compatible handset at no extra charge.

The telco said it will continue to expand 5G coverage throughout the city.

Ucell was the first operator in Uzbekistan to launch 5G in April 2021, starting with Tashkent’s financial district, after two years of trials, and has since rolled out 5G in Fergana, Kokand, and Margilan.

Rival telco Mobiuz launched 5G services in parts of Tashkent in 2022. Uzbektelecom launched non-standalone (NSA) 5G in all regional centres of Uzbekistan in September 2024 as part of a broader project to modernize its mobile network. Beeline Uzbekistan is currently running a 5G pilot in select portions of Tashkent.

In 2023, new arrival Rubicon Wireless Communication – operating under the brand “Perfectum” – announced plans to build a nationwide 5G Standalone (SA) network within three years. Perfectum has contracted Nokia to supply network gear for the project, and Qvantel to supply its BSS solution.
