PTA warns of blockage for SIMs inactive for 6 months

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned about the deactivation of mobile SIMs that have been inactive for six months.

According to the PTA, telecom operators have the authority to block SIMs that have not been used for six months. Any SIM that has not made calls, sent messages, or used the internet for 180 days will be blocked, and once deactivated, the number may be issued to another customer.

PTA further stated that once a SIM is reissued to another user, no legal claim remains over it. Users can request in writing or via email to retain ownership of their SIM for a specified period.

Consumers are advised to use their SIMs responsibly to avoid any potential inconvenience.
