Morocco rises 14 spots in AI Readiness Index

Morocco is accelerating its national artificial intelligence agenda as it climbs 14 places in the 2025 Government AI Readiness Index, reflecting rapid progress in digital transformation and public service modernisation.

Speaking at the opening of the national AI Made in Morocco event, Mrs. Amal Al-Falah Al-Sagroshny, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administration Reform, highlighted AI as a strategic pillar for Morocco’s technological sovereignty, territorial equity, and inclusive development.

She stressed that mastering AI technologies is essential to reducing technological dependency and ensuring long-term competitiveness. The Minister said Morocco’s rise in the global rankings demonstrates the effectiveness of recent reforms, but warned that continued momentum will depend on accelerating implementation and governance.

In line with Morocco’s long-term vision of AI as a catalyst for development, Al-Falah Al-Sagroshny announced the launch of the Jazari Institutes and Jazari Root. These initiatives will establish a structured national network of AI centres of excellence, supporting skills development, research, and applied innovation.

The new institutions align with the Royal Vision to position artificial intelligence as a strategic lever for South-South cooperation and regional collaboration, strengthening Morocco’s role across Africa and the Global South.

The launch marks a decisive step in Morocco’s digital strategy, combining technological advancement with inclusive growth objectives and reinforcing the country’s ambition to lead in AI adoption and governance across emerging markets.
