Peacock is set to become the first streaming platform to integrate Dolby’s full suite of premium picture and sound technologies, with NBCUniversal and Dolby outlining plans to add support for Dolby Vision 2 and Dolby AC-4 later in 2026.
Announced in Las Vegas on 5 January, the partnership will also see Peacock expand Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos availability across more live sports over the coming year, building on existing support for both formats on a growing number of on-demand titles.
NBCUniversal said it will integrate additional live sports into Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos experiences throughout 2026, naming Sunday Night Football, NBA and MLB among the properties targeted for upgrades.
Peacock is also the first streamer to publicly commit to adopting Dolby Vision 2, introduced by Dolby at IFA 2025, and Dolby AC-4, Dolby’s latest-generation audio codec. Dolby says Vision 2 is designed to improve viewing consistency on TVs, including addressing complaints that HDR pictures can appear “too dark”, while also reducing unwanted motion artefacts.
On the audio side, Dolby says AC-4 delivers up to 50% greater efficiency than traditional codecs, alongside new personalisation and dialogue enhancement features designed to improve clarity while using less bandwidth.
