RTL+ passes 7 million subscribers in Germany

German streaming platform RTL+ has passed the threshold of seven million paying subscribers at the turn of the year.

The milestone underlines the continued growth of RTL Deutschland’s flagship platform, which the broadcaster says attracted an average of more than 10 million monthly users in 2025, based on a cumulative net monthly reach of 10.24 million people. RTL+ continues to position itself as the fastest-growing streaming service in the German market, competing directly with international platforms.

The subscriber growth has been driven by a mix of locally focused content and live sport, including formats such as Das Sommerhaus der Stars – Kampf der Promipaare, Neue Geschichten vom Pumuckl and live NFL coverage, alongside international series and films. RTL Deutschland has also invested heavily in brand marketing, most recently through its “Mach dein Plus an” campaign.

Stephan Schmitter, CEO of RTL Deutschland, said the subscriber milestone demonstrated the strength of the service’s content strategy and teams. “This milestone of seven million paying customers underlines the power of our content, our offering and our people,” stressed Schmitter. “The figures show that our offer excites people in Germany every day.”

Schmitter added that RTL+ would continue to expand in 2026, with further investments in content across all genres, new technologies and partnerships. “We will consistently pursue this path and further adapt our structures to develop RTL+ in 2026,” he said, affirming that the company is targeting profitability for its streaming platform for the first time this year.
