Extension for HBO Max in multiyear Canal+ agreement

Canal+ and Warner Bros. Discovery have signed a new multi-year, multi-territory agreement extending their long-running partnership internationally, spanning both HBO Max distribution and the renewal of several Warner Bros. Discovery pay-TV channels across Africa and Europe.

The deal builds on earlier agreements in France in 2024, including the renewal of the exclusive pay-TV window for Warner Bros. Pictures films six months after theatrical release and the integration of HBO Max into selected Canal+ offers, as well as a 2025 renewal in Poland covering 22 thematic channels (including TVN24 and Eurosport) and four free-to-air services (including TVN).

In Europe, the companies are extending a series of renewals and expansions. Cartoon Network, Cartoonito and CNN International have been renewed in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with Warner TV also renewed in the Czech Republic. HBO Max, HBO and Cinemax are renewed across Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.

The agreement also widens HBO Max distribution via Canal+ into 2 additional markets: Belgium and Austria.

Across MultiChoice Group territories in Africa, Canal+ will continue distributing 12 Warner Bros. Discovery thematic channels, with a mix of exclusive and non-exclusive arrangements. CNN International and Cartoon Network will be exclusive in South Africa (and non-exclusive elsewhere), while Cartoon Network Porto will be exclusive in Angola and Mozambique (and non-exclusive in other markets). A wider slate will remain on a non-exclusive basis, including Cartoonito, Discovery Channel, Discovery Family, Real Time, ID, TLC, HGTV, Travel, TNT Africa and Food Network.
