Egypt’s digital economy gains momentum as exports reach US$7.4 billion

Egypt’s digital economy has recorded strong growth, with digital exports reaching $7.4 billion in 2025, up from $3.3 billion in 2018, representing a 124 percent increase. Communications and Information Technology Minister Amr Talaat said the expansion has supported consistent annual growth of 14 to 16 percent across the ICT sector.

Outsourcing exports have been a major driver, doubling to $4.8 billion in 2025 from $2.4 billion in 2022. Egypt is now home to 270 outsourcing companies and 240 service centres, highlighting the rapid expansion of its digital services ecosystem. Recent agreements with domestic and international firms are expected to create more than 100,000 jobs over the next three years.

Significant progress has also been made in digital skills development. ICT training programmes reached 500,000 participants in the 2024/2025 fiscal year, a sharp increase from around 4,000 in 2018/2019. At the same time, digital public services have expanded to 210 offerings through the Digital Egypt platform, which now serves more than 10 million users.

These developments align with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and are supported by sustained investments in AI-enabled government services, telecom infrastructure upgrades since 2019, growth in local electronics manufacturing, and preparations for 5G deployment. Together, these factors are strengthening Egypt’s position in global digital trade.
