The Federal government has announced that 5G services will be launched in Pakistan in the near future, with the entire rollout process expected to be completed within the next four to six months.
Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima made the announcement while addressing a joint press conference with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. She said the government is committed to introducing next-generation connectivity to strengthen Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.
The IT minister emphasized that the internet is the backbone of the digital economy, adding that the government is working to improve both internet speed and nationwide accessibility.
She further revealed that the government plans to auction 600 megahertz of spectrum, with efforts underway to complete the auction by the first week of February 2026.
Shaza Fatima said the recommendations of the Spectrum Advisory Committee would soon be presented to the federal cabinet while consultations with all relevant stakeholders, including the telecom sector, would be ensured to facilitate a smooth and transparent process.
