SLB and Qualcomm to collaborate on advance edge technologies in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain

SLB and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. are collaborating to develop and deploy intelligent edge infrastructure for Saudi Arabia’s energy sector. Technologies from the two companies will enable digital solutions to be deployed at scale that increase safety, allow faster decision-making, and drive greater efficiency in production operations.

SLB’s Agora edge AI and IoT solutions will be powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ processors and hardware.

“Integrating Qualcomm Technologies’ superior chipsets into SLB’s edge AI technology will enable advanced digital solutions to be scaled across the region’s energy sector, delivering new levels of safety, efficiency, and performance,” said Ibrahim Moussa, managing director, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, SLB. “Bringing the expertise of our two companies together creates a unique proposition, and we look forward to working with Qualcomm Technologies to enable us to deliver highly impactful innovations.”

The focus on deploying the technology in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain aligns with national priorities for digital industrialization, workforce development, and local value creation.

“This collaboration is also a testament to our commitment to local value creation. We are aligning with national priorities for digital industrialization and workforce development,” said Dev Singh, vice president and head of ONG and mining, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Our teams aim to bring together superior edge AI gateways and industrial handhelds for real-time safety analytics to AI-driven applications for production enhancement.”

Teams from SLB and Qualcomm Technologies have already begun collaborating on edge technologies. The first SLB solution, a rig floor safety prototype, uses AI to analyze the rig floor environment in real time, detecting unsafe conditions and highlighting other potential hazards by generating alerts and insights for safety personnel.
