Vodafone Egypt expands 5G coverage beyond 3,000 urban areas

Vodafone Egypt has announced a major expansion of its 5G network, extending coverage to more than 3,000 urban areas across the country, from Alexandria to Aswan. The rollout marks a significant increase from around 2,000 locations since June, underscoring the operator’s commitment to strengthening national digital infrastructure and accelerating next-generation connectivity.

Alongside the network expansion, Vodafone Egypt confirmed the renewal of its long-standing partnership with Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah as the company’s 5G ambassador. The collaboration, which began in 2017, reflects Vodafone’s focus on innovation, excellence, and leadership in digital connectivity, with Salah representing the values of resilience, performance, and national pride.

The expanded 5G network is designed to support high-quality digital experiences, including live streaming, video conferencing, and other data-intensive services. It also enhances network capacity and efficiency while enabling advanced use cases such as IoT applications across healthcare, education, transportation, and industrial sectors. The infrastructure further lays the foundation for smart cities, augmented and virtual reality, and future digital services.

Karim Eid, Vice President of the Commercial Sector at Vodafone Egypt, said the renewed partnership with Salah remains one of the most impactful long-term collaborations in the local market. He noted that the ambassador role is especially relevant as Egypt prepares for major events such as the Africa Cup of Nations, where reliable high-speed connectivity is critical for content consumption and live broadcasting.

Through continued 5G expansion and its partnership with Mohamed Salah, Vodafone Egypt aims to drive digital transformation and deliver a more connected, interactive future for millions of users nationwide
