Oman’s telecommunications sector records strong growth, accelerating digital transformation

Oman’s telecommunications sector recorded sustained and robust growth through the end of October 2025, reflecting accelerating momentum in the Sultanate’s digital transformation, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Total mobile subscriptions reached 8,045,400, representing an 11.3% year-on-year increase. Active postpaid subscriptions rose by 1.9% to 1,260,429, while prepaid subscriptions grew by 3.0% to 5,200,770. Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine services saw the strongest expansion, surging 68.0% to 1,584,201 subscriptions.

Internet services also posted notable gains. Active mobile broadband subscriptions climbed to 5,432,686, while fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 3.6% to 595,692. Fiber-to-the-home and building (FTTH/B) subscriptions grew by 12.4% to 351,432, while fixed 5G subscriptions edged up slightly by 0.5% to 219,751.

In contrast, legacy technologies continued to decline. Fixed 4G subscriptions dropped sharply by 51.3% to 12,621, while ADSL subscriptions fell by 37.9% to 10,237. Satellite internet subscriptions increased by 35.5% to 904, while other internet services, including power line, Ethernet, and leased lines, declined by 11.0% to 747 subscriptions.
