MTN Group has announced a new collaboration with Microsoft to broaden access to AI-enabled learning and productivity tools for millions of people across Africa, marking the operator’s milestone of reaching 300 million customers.
The initiative will bring Microsoft 365 with Copilot to MTN subscribers, giving users access to AI-assisted research, writing and collaboration tools, alongside Microsoft’s built-in security features designed to protect against phishing, data loss and other cyberthreats.
MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita said Africa’s future growth “will increasingly be shaped by how effectively its people can participate in the digital world,” adding that the partnership will “open new pathways for innovation and opportunity.”
Samer Abu-Ltaif, Microsoft’s President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said the collaboration aims to help users “learn, create, and participate meaningfully in the digital economy,” noting that Copilot will unlock new opportunities for skills development across the continent.
The rollout will begin in selected MTN markets from early 2026 and forms part of the operator’s wider push to integrate artificial intelligence across its network and services.
