Avanti targets Southern Africa with extra capacity from Türksat

Satellite technology company Avanti Communications announced that it has expanded its partnership with Türksat with a new agreement that aims to extend high connectivity solutions across Africa, particularly underserved regions in Southern Africa.

Under the new agreement – which builds on an earlier partnership deal between both companies in 2019 – Avanti has secured extra capacity on Türksat’s high-throughput satellite (HTS) Türksat 5B.

Avanti said its updated collaboration with Türksat aims to not only deliver seamless connectivity to enterprise customers across Southern Africa, but also act as a catalyst of strategic inter-operator partnerships that drive national and regional growth in the telecoms sector.

The deal enables South African partners to benefit from the combined capacity and capabilities of both satellite operators, said Debbie Mavis, director of Avanti Communications.

“Partnering with Türksat allows us to meet the surging demand for GEO satellite services across Southern Africa,” Mavis said in a statement. “Together, we’re expanding connectivity to the communities and businesses that need it most.”

Dr. Selman Demirel, Türksat’s VP of satellite operations, added that South Africa represents a key growth market for the satellite operator.

“Avanti’s established presence and deep understanding of local connectivity needs make them an ideal partner for our expansion into the region,” Demirel said.
