19 areas in Kathmandu get free WiFi, find places and speed

19 public areas in Kathmandu are set to get free WiFi internet service. The initiative is led by the current Communication Minister Jagdish Kharel, who promised to launch free WiFi in two months in Kathmandu while assuming office on Ashoj 06.

The government has made free WiFi hotspots available in public areas that will benefit large crowds with free connectivity. The project is taking place in a phased manner. The government, in coordination with NTA, will provide free WiFi service at various hospitals, airports, and other important public areas.

The communication ministry (MoCIT) says that it has also started WiFi quality improvement in various areas. So far, the ministry has installed or improved free WiFi connections in 8 areas in Kathmandu. But also, keep in mind that you should use free public WiFi safely.

The service is provided via 6 access points at Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital and 5 at Kirtipur Hospital. The government is cooperating with Nepal Telecom (NTC), WorldLink, and Vianet to provide free WiFi services in these areas. Ntc has already started free WiFi at TIA and will do so at 34 airports across the country.
