Telecom Fiji and Solomon Telekom in skills-sharing tie-up

Telecom Fiji and Solomon Telekom announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen technical cooperation and support skills development in the telecoms field.

Under the partnership deal, engineers and technical staff from Solomon Telekom will receive specialized training at Telecom Fiji to build their knowledge and practical skills in fibre network planning, design, and operation, as well as internet and broadband systems, and network optimization.

Telecom Fiji said it will provide hands-on training using its experience in optical fibre technology, from network planning and setup to daily operations. Participants will learn about core infrastructure, network connections to homes and businesses, and how large-scale systems are monitored and managed.

Telecom Fiji CEO Charles Goundar said the MoU with Solomon Telekom marks an important step in building stronger regional partnerships across the Pacific Islands.

“By sharing our technical knowledge and expertise, we’re helping to strengthen telecommunications capacity across the Pacific,” he said in a statement.

Goundar and Solomon Telekom CEO Christina Lasaqa signed the MoU last month on the sidelines of a strategy forum hosted by the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association.
