German broadcaster RTL Deutschland has launched its streaming service RTL+ as an independent add-on channel on Amazon Prime Video.
The move allows Amazon customers in Germany and Austria to access RTL+ directly through Prime Video – without the need for a separate app, a Prime membership, or advertising breaks.
Subscribers can book RTL+ via Prime Video for €12.99 per month, gaining access to the full video catalogue, including linear TV channels such as RTL, VOX and ntv, as well as a mix of sports, fiction, reality and entertainment content.
“Strong partnerships are more important than ever,” said Stephan Schmitter, CEO of RTL Deutschland. “We are delighted to extend our collaboration with Amazon through RTL+. As Germany’s leading streaming service, our goal is to be as broadly available as possible.”
Henning Nieslony, Chief Streaming Officer at RTL Deutschland, added that the integration “opens up new target groups and increases the visibility of our strong content.”
For Amazon, the move further enhances its portfolio of third-party streaming options. “We’re pleased to add RTL+ to our channel line-up,” said Dr Christoph Schneider, Managing Director of Prime Video Germany. “The combination of exclusive sports, German originals and international premium content makes RTL+ a valuable addition to our offering.”
The RTL+ launch builds on existing collaborations between RTL Deutschland and Amazon, which already include RTL’s pay-TV channels – RTL Crime, RTL Living and GEO Television – on Prime Video Channels. Additionally, both companies are co-producing a reboot of the 1990s cult show Gladiators – Die Show der Giganten, with filming set to begin in spring 2026.
