State-run telecom company Nepal Telecom (NTC) has continued its 4G and 2G service expansion in Gandaki Province. In a new report, the company shared its latest expansion progress in the hilly region.
The company has started 4G in various localities in Ngisyang Rural Municipality, Manang. The company launched 4G in Pisang ward no. 1, Ngawal ward no. 3, Tanki ward no. 8, and Khangsar ward no. 9. Previously, the company was operating 2G via VSAT technology in these localities. However, the company acknowledged these areas’ significance in tourism and saw difficulty in maintaining service due to the growth in the user base. This is why the company upgraded the network to 4G on Ashwin 04, 2082. Ntc has expanded 4G in many areas in Manang district in recent months.
The company adds that it couldn’t operate the service with Radio Link due to the complex terrain. That’s why it started operating the service through ADSS Link in Besisahar-Khangsar.
Sharing further on Ntc 4G expansion in Gandaki, the company said that it will soon start 4G mobile service in Thorong Phedi. Ntc has also launched 4G in Tilicho Base Camp, a popular trekking route.
Similarly, the company started 4G and 2G services in Kotogaun of Chame Rural Municipality- 3 on Ashwin 01, 2082. The locals had complained of poor signal coverage, and Ntc addressed the situation with a newer-generation cellular service.
The company has also upgraded its service to 4G in Nasong Rural Municipality ward no. 1 on Ashwin 05, 2082. The 4G base station also lends coverage to the Chyamche region north of Lamjung.
