Poland's Polsteam choses Marlink to upgrade connectivity on its vessels

Polish dry bulk vessel operator Polsteam has chosen Marlink, which supplies managed services for business-critical ICT solutions, to upgrade connectivity and cybersecurity solutions on board 50 of the vessels it controls.

Marlink says the Sealink NextGen hybrid network solution will support the company’s transition to digitised shipping operations, enhancing safety and efficiency while enabling high quality crew communications. Polsteam will also utilise Marlink’s Unified Threat Management (UTM) solution to enhance the cyber resilience of its vessel operations.

Marlink says it will leverage its experience as a managed services provider to upgrade the hybrid network solution on board, integrating LEO Starlink internet with traditional VSAT, managed by its XChange platform to enhance options available for business applications and improving connectivity available for crews.

Anong the benefits that the solution provides Polsteam will be high bandwidth, low-latency communications via Sealink NextGen to support digitalised fleet operations, as well as enhanced cybersecurity including application control, web filtering, intrusion protection and antivirus cybersolutions.

In addition, this hybrid solution, designed for remote operations, will offer improved uptime and reliability with secure communications and data transfer.

The largest dry bulk vessel operator in Eastern Europe, Polsteam began in 1951 with shipping in the Baltic Sea and North Seas. Today Polsteam manages ships transporting cargo around the world based on close relationships with important global cargo owners.

Adam Rogucki, Technical Director, Polsteam, says: “Our internationally trading fleet requires us to maintain a high level of interaction between masters and managers, using increasingly advanced tools for collaboration. The Marlink solution enables us to enhance our remote operations in a secure environment, increasing efficiency and leisure solutions for our crews.”
