U Mobile has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to establish its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP), aimed at accelerating 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and artificial intelligence (AI) adoption.
The EIP will function as an innovation lab, leveraging Huawei Malaysia’s technical expertise to support solutions development, pilot projects and proof-of-concept initiatives across sectors including smart cities, manufacturing and logistics.
Chief Technology Officer of U Mobile Woon Ooi Yuen said, “U Mobile is pleased to collaborate with Huawei Malaysia as one of our strategic technology partners to establish our EIP, which will enable the development of localised 5G solutions, pilot projects and proofs of concept, while supporting smart monetisation and ecosystem growth.”
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Carrier Business at Huawei Malaysia Zac Chow, said Huawei had been named the sole ‘Leader’ in GlobalData’s 2025 5G RAN: Competitive Landscape Assessment for the seventh consecutive year, citing its strengths in 5G-Advanced and AI integration.
The MoU signing took place at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit Kuala Lumpur (ASEAN Edition) and was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, and other senior officials.
