Participation of Petros Galides in GSR-25 Panels
Within the framework of GSR-25, Mr. Petros Galides, Member of the Board of the Digital Regulation Network (DRN) of the ITU, and Chairman of the European and Mediterranean Regulators Group for Electronic Communications (EMERG), participated in two key sessions:
▪️As a panelist in the session “Designing Responsible AI Governance: From Principles to Practice”, alongside Mr. Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the ITU, Mr. Danny Tobey, Global Co-Chair and Chair of DLA Piper Americas AI and Data Analytics Practice, Mr. Ahmad Bhinder, Policy Innovation Director of the Digital Cooperation Organisation, Mr. Koffi Fabrice Djossou, Expert Principal, West African Development Bank, and Abdullah Mohammad Khorami, Chief Business Officer, Salam Mobile. The panel was introduced by Mr. Bocar A. Ba, CEO of the SAMENA Council, and moderated by Ms. Imme Philbeck, Chief Economist and Director of Development, also from the SAMENA Council.
In his intervention, Mr. Galides outlined the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Regulatory Framework – The AI Act. He stated that responsible, human-centric and secure AI development is essential for building trust, fostering innovation and safeguarding fundamental rights. He further noted that cooperation at national, cross-sectoral and international levels is critical for developing trustworthy and resilient AI ecosystems.
