A new Vodafone 4G mast serving the rural Staffordshire village of Church Eaton, active since early July 2025, was visited by Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, Eccleshall & the Villages.
The visit came days after the successful second UK-wide test of the Government’s Emergency Alert Service (EAS) where messages are sent to mobile devices to warn of potentially life-threatening or disruptive incidents.
During the visit, Ms Ingham, alongside members of the local community, met VodafoneThree representatives who also discussed ongoing improvements being made to improve mobile coverage across the constituency and the country as part of VodafoneThree’s £11 billion investment programme to build the UK’s best network. This includes:
The use of innovative ‘Multi-Operator Core Network’ technology, which means Vodafone and Three customers will automatically connect to the best coverage available – whether that’s on Vodafone or Three – giving them access to two networks at no extra cost. The activity, which has already started on other masts in parts of Stafford and the Staffordshire area, is expected to finish across the UK within the year.
Three customers enjoying faster, more reliable 4G coverage following the activation of extra spectrum on almost 15,000 Three masts across the UK.
Councillor Jon Gibbs of Church Eaton Parish Council said: ”Getting decent mobile coverage here will make a real difference to daily life. Whether it’s staying in touch with family, working from home, or knowing residents can receive emergency alerts if needed, this mast is already making a huge difference. We’re grateful to Leigh and VodafoneThree for listening to our concerns and getting the mast live.”
Leigh Ingham MP for Stafford, Eccleshall & the Villages said: “I am really pleased to work with residents and VodafoneThree to see this new mast go live. Reliable mobile coverage is not just about convenience, it’s about safety, being able to keep in touch with loved ones, and supporting local businesses. I’ll keep working with communities and providers to make sure that everyone across Stafford, Eccleshall, and the villages benefits from better connectivity.”
Ms Ingham was given a tour of the mast by Nigel Parsons, VodafoneThree’s Regional Radio and Optimisation Lead for the Midlands Region who said: “It was great to meet Ms Ingham to talk about the new mast and some of the benefits our customers in her constituency will start to see following investments in our network.”
