Telenor has partnered with Broadpeak, a provider of scalable video delivery solutions, to deploy a unified content delivery network (CDN) across Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
The collaboration marks a significant upgrade for Telenor’s existing CDN architecture, enabling the company to deliver high-performance streaming experiences to millions of devices across its Nordic footprint. The new platform will support Telenor’s flagship services — T-We, Telenor Stream, and DNA TV — which offer subscribers access to hundreds of linear channels, live sports, and premium entertainment across connected TVs, web, and mobile apps.
Powered by Broadpeak’s streaming technology, the solution will deliver live TV, catch-up, start-over, personal video recorder (PVR), and video-on-demand (VOD) services. It will also allow Telenor to offer CDN-as-a-service to third-party streaming providers, expanding its reach and monetization potential.
“We’re committed to delivering state-of-the-art live and on-demand streaming experiences for our customers across the region,” said Emil Hansen, VP Nordic TV at Telenor. “Broadpeak is a proven leader in delivering quality at scale—they know how to handle complex migration challenges and provide the unified management we need to efficiently grow our services.”
Broadpeak’s CDN platform features a mutualised architecture with multiple points of presence (PoPs) across the Nordics, supporting over 1Tbps per server. This ensures broadcast-grade quality even during peak traffic events, while also optimizing operational costs and energy efficiency. The system’s single-interface management gives Telenor greater control and visibility across its video delivery operations.
“Telenor is leading the way in the strategic development of multi-country video services,” said Jacques Le Mancq, CEO of Broadpeak. “We’re proud to support their journey toward future-proof, premium OTT services across the Nordics.”
