CelcomDigi launches FTTR-B solution for Malaysian enterprises

Malaysian telco CelcomDigi says it has partnered with Huawei to launch a fibre-to-the-room business (FTTR-B) solution for enterprises in Malaysia that promises high-speed connectivity in every corner of their premises.

According to a statement from CelcomDigi on Thursday, the FTTR-B solution incorporates WiFi 7 backed with fibre to deliver ultra-fast, reliable connectivity in every room without signal loss, enabling seamless roaming, low latency and congestion-free performance with greater capacity for simultaneous device connections.

CelcomDigi said the solution can support high-bandwidth applications like cloud collaboration, 4K/8K streaming, smart office automation, and AI operations. The FTTR-B solution is also designed to enable future-proof capacity beyond 2 Gbps, the telco said.

The telco also said enterprises can opt for a fully managed and customisable FTTR-B solution tailored to their unique business needs. CelcomDigi said the solution is scalable for any business size.

The cost will depend on the scale and bandwidth needs, but CelcomDigi said it is promoting a FTTR-B 1Gbps bundle for MYR299 (US$71.20) per month with a one-time fee of MYR180 with free installation. CelcomDigi revealed its updated Business Fibre plans at an event early last week in La Casa Leal Restaurant, the first restaurant in Malaysia to pilot the solution.

The FTTR-B launch follows CelcomDigi’s launch of its consumer FTTR offering for Malaysian households in October last year, which in turn followed its deal with property developer I-Berhad in October 2023 to deploy FTTR for its ‘i-City’ smart city project, delivering broadband speeds up to 1 Gbps to any room in i-City homes.

With enterprises increasingly reliant on digital solutions and infrastructure, FTTR-B enables businesses to fully adopt digitalisation and operate more efficiently in the connected economy, said CelcomDigi chief enterprise business officer Afizulazha Abdullah.

“With so many critical functions now dependent on digital platforms, businesses need fast, stable, and consistent coverage in every corner of their operations, whether it is serving customers, managing back-end systems, or keeping teams connected,” he said in a statement.
