10thNawras Goodwill Journey tour nears completion

The 10thNawras Goodwill Journey reached the Oman Cancer Association in Ibra yesterday as volunteers continue theirtour across the Sultanate.

Since leaving Muscat, the Nawras Goodwill volunteers have been sharing the action live on their social media channels and online, using the hashtag #RamadanJourney, to help share the giving spirit during this holy month.

The team visited the Women’s Association in Al Amerat and the Omani Women’s Association in Sur while also dispatching supplies to the Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children in JalanBani Bu Hassan which included a fully equipped office suite to improve the quality of daily life for the children. Nawras volunteers also brought with them laptops, iPads, air conditioning units and tables that will allow the Association to offer multimedia educational programmes and support the children’s integration into the local community.

In Ibra, the Nawras team delivered and installed a range of washing machines, cookers and air conditioning units to help the Oman Cancer Association provide a higher standard of care for those who rely on the facility. Yesterday, the Nawras Goodwill Journey crossed the desert to the Social Development Centre in Haima before heading to the Orphanage in Salalah.

At each stop, fasting Nawras volunteers are donating appliances, laundry facilities and household items to assist the organisations with on-going projects to help families. The team has also been spending time with local children distributing digital items that will help with their education as they look to inspire them to achieve their full potential.

This year’s Journey has already clocked up nearly 2,000 kilometres with teams from both legs of the tour travelling the length and breadth of the country to assist the educational and social development projects run by charitable organisations and community centres.

For the past ten years, teams of fasting Nawras family members have supported good causes and social development projects across the Sultanate. This year, the Nawras website has been providingreal time progress updates on the convoy’s progress through GPS at www.nawras.om and daily updates through all official Nawras social media platforms.

Video diaries can be viewed on the Nawras YouTube Channel, www.youtube.com/Nawras1500, and check out some fantastic images of spreading smiles and goodwill on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Nawras.
