Etisalat today announced the appointment of Ahmed Al Awadi as Chief Financial Officer of Etisalat UAE. The appointment is in line with the Corporation’s efforts to enhance its financial performance and strengthening its senior management team. Al Awadi will be responsible for managing several financial roles at Etisalat UAE while contributing to the execution of Etisalat’s strategic business plans.
Mr Al Awadi brings with him over 13 years of experience within the telecommunications industry with significant knowledge in finance. He also possesses a keen understanding of local and regional markets, which will contribute in boosting efficiency, and enhancing shareholders’ value.
Mr Al Awadi started his career in the telecom industry with Etisalat in 1999 as management accountant. Following a successful stint, he was chosen to join Etihad Etisalat’s (Mobily) team, one of Etisalat’s most successful and profitable regional investments, at startup stage in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2004.
Soon after returning to UAE, Mr. Al Awadi joined the “International Investments” unit in Etisalat. He was promoted to Director – Mergers and Acquisitions position, where he was responsible for reviewing the plans as valuation of international investment opportunities. Mr. Al Awadi was later promoted as Vice President – International Investments, a role in which he supervised important acquisitions that led to the transformation of Etisalat into a major regional telecom operator with presence in 16 countries, including Egypt, Afghanistan and Nigeria.
Commenting on the new appointment, Mr. Saleh Al Abdooli, Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat UAE, said: “Ahmed is an accomplished leader in the area of telecom finance and his insights will be crucial for Etisalat as we strategize our future growth.”

Mr. Al Awadi holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in Finance and Management form Georgia State University in the USA, and a Master of Business Administration in International Finance from American University in Dubai.
Etisalat follows a stated policy of recruiting and developing national talent both on a local level as well as in its international markets. The Corporation aims to develop such talent by providing extensive training programs that meet the best international quality standards.
