Officials say tens of thousands of residents will now benefit from improved mobile and internet services.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology says it has launched a nationwide project to build 560 telecom sites in underserved areas, over 200 of which have already been completed.
Enayatullah Alokozai, spokesperson for the ministry, said: "The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, along with the ATRA authority, has planned 560 telecom sites across the country for areas previously without services. Of these, 26 have been allocated to Ghazni and are now active in areas that previously had no access at all."
He added that efforts are ongoing to upgrade telecom services from 2G and 3G to 4G, and that the number of 4G users nationwide has increased from 1.2 million to 7 million.
"We used to have 1.2 million 4G users across the country. That number has now reached 7 million. Our goal is to improve service quality and shift from 3G to 4G to address public needs," he said.
According to official statistics, nearly 150 new telecom sites have been launched in Ghazni over the past four years, and 15 others that were destroyed during past conflicts have been rebuilt.
Services for around 135 sites across the province have been upgraded from 2G and 3G to 4G.
Local residents say the activation of the new sites has eased communication challenges, though some remote areas still lack reliable service.
Khairullah, a resident of Ghazni, said: "We used to climb to higher ground just to make a call. Now that these sites are active, we are very happy and our problems have decreased. But other areas still need service."
Another resident, Mohammad Anwar, added: "There are still places where we can’t reach our friends and phones don’t work. Antennas should be installed in those areas too."
Officials confirmed that 24 more telecom sites are planned for areas in Ghazni where residents either have no access or face limited access to telecommunication services.
