Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) issued an official clarification following public concerns on social media about how licensed and unlicensed telecom companies manage their online platforms. The Authority confirmed that all licensed operators manage their social media accounts directly through staff based inside Oman.
The TRA explained that while some companies use advanced digital scheduling tools that automate content posting across platforms, these tools may create the impression that accounts are managed externally. In reality, all activities, approvals and oversight remain fully in-country and under the control of authorized personnel.
The Authority reaffirmed that its regulatory framework requires licensed telecom companies to run their platforms and systems through local employees or TRA-approved firms, ensuring compliance with national rules and maintaining operational sovereignty.
The TRA also thanked specialists and members of the public for raising concerns, emphasizing that transparency and public participation are central to its work. It highlighted ongoing public consultations across its digital channels, encouraging citizens and stakeholders to provide feedback on regulatory policies and future initiatives.
