Juniper and ServiceNow deliver AI-powered automation

Juniper and ServiceNow are working together to combine Juniper Mist Cloud and ServiceNow Telecom Service Management and Order Management for Telecom to enable joint customers to streamline their complex multi-layer, multivendor solutions. The partnership aims to boost network deployment and operational efficiencies while decreasing costs.

Notably, Juniper joins the ServiceNow Technology Partner Program to expand their longstanding relationship to boost the automation and simplification of customer operations. Together, Juniper and ServiceNow will provide an AI-driven, closed-loop solution that integrates into OSS/BSS or enterprise management systems for accelerating network and service deployments.

I see Juniper’s expanded ServiceNow alliance reinforcing Juniper’s strategic focus on the enterprise space. At the May 2023 Juniper Enterprise Analyst Summit, Juniper highlighted that enterprise has become the #1 revenue segment for the company underscored by 29% Y/Y growth globally. Now Juniper’s revenues are nearly balanced three-ways across its enterprise, service provider, and cloud portfolios. Moreover, the new joint automation offering targets managed service providers, further demonstrating that Juniper is committed to fulfilling the business and technology priorities of all its three major customer categories.

The move strengthens Juniper’s Experience-First Networking vision that ensures and upholds client-to-cloud automation using its WiFi, LAN, and SD-WAN portfolio assets. From my perspective, Juniper’s Mist AI and Marvis VNA technologies underpin the ability of Juniper and ServiceNow to assure end-to-end automation throughout managed service provider and enterprise operational environments.

I expect that Juniper’s security portfolio will perform an increasingly integral role in assuring comprehensive automation for the alliance’s joint customers. For example, Security Director Cloud can operationalize security through providing a unified management and policy experience. In addition, Juniper’s Zero Trust Edge architecture can connect and protect users and devices regardless of location, assisting enterprise adoption and managed service offerings aimed at enterprises across expanding service access service edge (SASE) implementations as well as across on-premise, edge, and cloud security requirements.

The expanded alliance benefits directly from the capabilities of the ServiceNow Telecom Service Management and Order Management for Telecom solution. Specifically, Telecom Service Management delivers unified telecom service and operations on a single platform, akin to the ability of Juniper’s Security Director Cloud to advance a unified management and policy experience, for service providers. Telecom Service Management enables customers to use self-service tools to modify, troubleshoot, and expand their working knowledge across service-related technical and business issues.

Additionally, ServiceNow’s Order Management for Telecom is well suited to enabling managed service providers to accelerate new services and products to market through catalog-driven order management that is purpose-design to fulfill rising 5G and IoT traffic volumes across growing yet intricate 5G standalone (SA) and 5G Advanced environments.

Overall, I believe the union of Juniper’s AI-driven network automation with ServiceNow’s service management capabilities can drive broader adoption and deployment of end-to-end automation throughout managed service provider and enterprise network and operational environments. The new initiative benefits directly from the longstanding alliance between Juniper and ServiceNow, which from my view provides the ecosystem foundation to advance open architectures and the experience-first networking proposition.
